6 The OpenLDAP Project is pleased to announce the availability
7 of OpenLDAP release 1.0, a suite of the Lightweight Weight
8 Directory Protocol servers, clients, utilities, and development tools.
10 OpenLDAP is derived from University of Michigan LDAP release 3.3.
12 This release includes the following components:
14 - slapd - a stand-alone LDAP directory server
15 - slurpd - a stand-alone LDAP replication server
16 - ldapd - an LDAP-to-X.500 gateway server
17 - centipede - an LDAP centroid generation and maintenance program
18 - libldap - an LDAP client library
19 - liblber - a lightweight BER/DER encoding/decoding library
20 - ldif tools - data conversion tools for use with slapd
21 - in.xfingerd - a finger-to-LDAP gateway server
22 - go500 - a gopher-to-LDAP gateway server for searching
23 - go500gw - a gopher-to-LDAP gateway server for searching and browsing
24 - rcpt500 - an email-to-LDAP query responder
25 - mail500 - an LDAP-capable mailer
26 - fax500 - an LDAP-capable mailer that supports remote printing
27 - LDAP tools - A collection of shell-based LDAP utility programs
29 In addition, there are some contributed components:
31 - web500 - an HTTP-to-LDAP gateway
32 - whois++d - a WHOIS++-to-LDAP gateway
33 - saucer - a simple command-line oriented client program
36 Changes from U. Mich release 3.3
38 - TCP Wrappers support added to slapd,
39 - Berkely DB2 compatibility added to slapd,
40 - ACL enhancements including Access by Group and POSIX regex(3) support,
41 - platforms updates, and
42 - numerous bug fixes and build changes.

73 This release has been ported to many UNIX platforms, including
74 SunOS 4.1.x, Solaris 2.x, Ultrix 4.3, HP-UX 9.05, AIX 3.2.5,
75 SCO, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Linux, IRIX, Digital Unix (OSF/1), and
76 NeXTSTEP 3.2. This release has also been ported to VMS.
78 The client libraries and some clients have also been ported to
79 MacOS 7.x, MSDOS (some TCP stacks), and MS Windows 3.1/95/NT.
