4 of OpenLDAP 2.1, a suite of the Lightweight Directory Access
5 Protocol servers, clients, utilities, and development tools.
7 This release contains the following major enhancements:

12 * Improved Referral handling
13 * SASL authentication/authorization mapping
14 * SASL in-directory storage of authentication secrets
15 * Enhanced administrative limits/access controls
16 * Meta backend (experimental)
17 * Monitor backend (experimental)
18 * Virtual "glue" backend (experimental)
20 * Updated LDAP C and TCL APIs
21 * LDAPv3 extensions, including:
22 - Enhanced Language Tag/Range Support
23 - 'Who am i?' Extended Operation
24 - 'Matched Values' Control
27 This release includes the following major components:
29 * slapd - a stand-alone LDAP directory server
30 * slurpd - a stand-alone LDAP replication server
31 * -lldap - a LDAP client library
32 * -llber - a lightweight BER/DER encoding/decoding library
33 * LDIF tools - data conversion tools for use with slapd
34 * LDAP tools - A collection of command line LDAP utility programs
36 In addition, there are some contributed components:
38 * LDAPC++ - a LDAP C++ SDK
39 * ldapTCL - a LDAP TCL SDK
41 This release contains a number of major code changes. It
42 might be a bit rough around the edges. Use with appropriate
48 OpenLDAP is developed by a team of volunteers whose use
49 the Internet to coordinate their activities. The project is
50 managed by the OpenLDAP Foundation.
52 OpenLDAP LDAP implementation is derived from University of
53 Michigan LDAP release 3.3.
