+ The OpenLDAP Project is pleased to announce the availability
+ of OpenLDAP Software 2.3, a suite of the Lightweight Directory
+ Access Protocol (v3) servers, clients, utilities, and
+ development tools.
+
+ This release contains the following major enhancements:
+
+ * Slapd(8) enhancements
+ - Updated slapd "overlay" interface, and several
+ example (and mostly experimental) overlays.
+ - Updated LDAP "sync" Engine with replication support,
+ provider now an "overlay"
+ - Numerous access control enhancements, including
+ experimental "don't disclose on error" capability
+ - Configuration backend
+ * LDAPv3 extensions, including:
+ - LDAP Password Policy
+ - LDAP Component Matching (requires OpenLDAP snacc)
+ - LDAP Modify Increment
+

SUPPORTED PLATFORMS
- This release has been ported to many UNIX platforms, including
- SunOS 4.1.x, Solaris 2.x, Ultrix 4.3, HP-UX 9.05, AIX 3.2.5,
- SCO, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Linux, IRIX, Digital Unix (OSF/1), and
- NeXTSTEP 3.2. This release has also been ported to VMS.
