layout. While the architecture specific stuff (binaries, libraries,
etc.) is installed under /usr/${host}/{bin,lib,...} architecture-independent

This is helpful when the ar executable is named differently, for
example with an arch specific prefix.

Catch most uses of finished/parent txns.
