8 In Bacula version 1.38.5 and prior, there was apparently a
9 compiler bug that caused the Storage daemon to seg fault.
10 I have applied a workaround in version 1.38.6 and greater that
11 seems to work. If you experience problems, follow the instructions
14 If you are compiling for a 64 bit machine, you need to ensure
15 that the code is compiled with the -O0 (- oh zero) option otherwise
16 the SD will crash on most all operations -- apparently due to
17 a compiler bug in gcc's 64 bit code generation.

21 - The Windows FD no longer automatically folds the case
22 in wild-card comparions. To get the same behavior as before,
23 you must explicitly use "Ignore Case = yes" in your FileSet.
24 - Backslashes are no longer permitted in File directives
25 (typical error for Windows users), unless the string is
26 enclosed in double quotes, in which case, the backslashes
28 - The new algorithm for selecting Volumes from the Scratch
29 pool that was implemented in 1.38.6 and 1.38.7 is abandoned
30 in favor of a corrected version of the 1.38.5 algorithm.
32 New features for 1.38.8:
33 - Regex, RegexFile, and RegexDir are now implemented in the
34 Win32 FD. However, this is new experimental code that is
35 largely untested. It may not work, it may cause memory
36 leaks, or it may even crash the FD. Please test carefully
38 - On Linux/Unix systems there are two new programs, bregex
39 and bwild that allow you to test regular expressions and
40 wild-cards. These programs are installed with the other
41 binaries. They are not available on Win32 systems.
46 New Features from pre-1.38.8 releases:
47 - For autochanger get Scratch tape if in autochanger if
48 no appendable Volumes are available.
49 - New virtual disk autochanger. See scripts/disk-changer for
51 - New optional Device resource directive in SD. 'Device Type =',
52 which may have types: File, DVD, Tape, or FIFO. This can
53 be useful for writing DVDs on FreeBSD where Bacula cannot
54 correctly detect the DVD.

56 - The command line keyword job (or jobname) now refers to the

307 - Back port a bit of 1.39 crypto code to reduce diffs.

513 - New Job directive 'Prefer Mounted Volumes = yes|no' causes the
514 SD to select either an Autochanger or a drive with a valid
515 Volume already mounted in preference. If none is available,
516 it will select the first available drive.
517 - New Run directive in Job resource of DIR. It permits
518 cloning of jobs. To clone a copy of the current job, use
519 Run = 'job-name level=%l since=\'%s\''
520 Note, job-name is normally the same name as the job that
521 is running but there is no restriction on what you put. If you
522 want to start the job by hand and use job overrides such as
523 storage=xxx, realize that the job will be started with the
524 default storage values not the overrides. The level=%l guarantees
525 that the chosen level of the job is the same, and the since=...
526 ensures that the job uses *exactly* the same time/date for incremental
527 and differential jobs. The since=... is ignored when level=Full.
528 A cloned job will not start additional clones, so it is not possible

550 and thus permit multiple filesystem types. If the type
551 specified on the fstype directive does not match the
552 filesystem for a particular directive, that directory will
553 not be backed up. This directive can be used to prevent
